Introducing Ric's Bench
A bench is somewhere you go to sit.
Somewhere you may meet friends,
where you may talk to people you don’t yet know.
You may sit and eat, enjoy a tea or coffee.
You may just sit quietly and reflect.
You might like to sit and read, even draw or paint.
You may feel low, you may feel good – a bench doesn’t mind,
neither does a bench care whether you are young or old,
whether you are a Christian, of another faith or of no faith.
A bench is there for all, somewhere you can be yourself.
What is Ric's Bench?
Ric’s Bench is pretty much the same as a
regular bench, only it’s much bigger!
It’s a safe place to drop in, sit and be yourself.
Enjoy a snack, drink and chat,
or just be in the company of other people.
And why 'Ric's' ?
Simply because it’s at St Richard’s Hall, behind
the church in Sydney Road, Haywards Heath, RH16 1QE.
Ric’s Bench is a safe place in Haywards Heath to come and just be – however you may be feeling.
At Ric’s Bench you will find a warm welcome, a cup of tea or coffee, a snack, even a newspaper.
If you wish, you can talk, or simply just be in the company of other people.
If you have a particular problem, you will find someone who will listen; they might not have the answers, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Ric’s Bench is based at the newly refurbished St Richard’s hall and, when the weather allows, in the adjacent garden.
During Ric’s Bench sessions the tranquil St Richard’s church is also open, should you wish to sit still, or pray, or light a candle.
Ric's Bench is run and currently funded by St Richard's Church to help our community, improve mental health, wellbeing and help combat loneliness.

Ric's Bench is open on Fridays at the following times:
